SDG Center for Latin America and the Caribbean has been launched

On the 2nd of March, the Universidad de los Andes and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) formally announced that they will be jointly working on the development of the SDG Center for Latin America and the Caribbean, which will be the first Latin-American SDG-related regional hub. The SDG Center LAC will also be supported by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

In addition to the Sustainable Development Goals, the work of the Center will focus on the most pressing development challenges in the region and their diverse interlinkages. In order to address the pressing social, environmental, cultural and political issues the Center will set its focus on the following SDGs: SDG 4 (Education); SDG 9 (Industry Innovation and Infrastructure); SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities); SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities); SDG 13 (Climate Action); SDG 14 (Life on Land). The Center will serve as convening hub on issues related to SDG 16 by sharing knowledge and solutions on conflict prevention, resolution, sustaining peace and advancing sustainable development.

The SDG Center for Latin America and the Caribbean will contribute to the SDG policy planning and implementation in the region by creating and disseminating policy tools. It will also convene experts from the region and the world, which are representing civil society, private sector and governments. By offering high-quality courses and executive programs, they will also train the leaders of the future. The activities of the newly announced Center will be in accordance with the work of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
