Regional GFSE: Renewable Energy from Farming Residues and Solid Wastes in Central America, 2-4 April 2008, Costa Rica

The forum was organized by the Energy and Environment Partnership with Central America (EEP) jointly with GFSE and other partners. Presentations and discussions centred on renewable energy from farming residues and solid wastes in Central America, which provided insights into the framework conditions of biomass resource use in Central America, opportunities for CDM projects and financing opportunities for renewable energy projects.  Next to success stories of renewable energy projects in Central America, several European technology providers (biogas and biofuels) were presented. Participants of the forum also had the possibility to visit the biogas plant SERMIDE (production of biogas from pig wastes) in Cachi, Cartago.
