CTCN Stakeholder Forum & Regional Forum for West Africa

The first Stakeholder Forum of the Climate Technology Centre & Network was convened from 5-7 April 2016 in Nairobi, Kenya, together with partner institutions.

The Forum, entitled “Facilitating Transfer of Climate Technologies in East-Africa” brought together participants from the CTCN institutions and private sector actors to help address barriers to technology transfer and development faced by the private sector and realize scalable climate change projects. Priority areas of the workshop were technologies addressing climate change mitigation (energy and forestry) as well as adaptation (water and agriculture).

On 3-4 April 2016, the CTCN also hosted the Regional Forum for West Africa in Cairo, Egypt. CTCN National Designated Entities (NDEs) and network members based in West Africa were able strengthen ties with other stakeholders and identify matchmaking opportunities to secure funding for follow-up actions to CTCN requests or other climate technology activities.

Forum participants discussed the implications of the Paris Agreement with regard to technology transfer and the Technology Mechanism, linkages between the Technology and Finance Mechanism and exchanged experiences with establishing NDEs and making use of the CTCN Technical Assistance.
