Women’s Share of the Renewable Energy Workforce Remains at 32%

A new report from IRENA reveals that women remain significantly underrepresented in the global renewable energy workforce, holding just 32% of full-time positions — a figure unchanged since 2019. The study highlights major gaps in leadership, technical trades, and STEM roles, and calls for urgent, coordinated action to remove systemic barriers and promote gender equity across the sector. Without meaningful progress, the energy transition risks being neither inclusive nor sustainable.
