Africa – EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) High Level Meeting, 20-21 April 2010
GFSE-9 Meeting, 22 April 2010
Hofburg Congress Center, Vienna, Austria

In the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) it was decided to organize a Ministerial Energy Meeting every two years. The first meeting will take place from 20 to 21 April 2010 at the Hofburg Congress Centre in Vienna, Austria. The conference will take stock of the progress made so far in the implementation of the AEEP and will agree on joint political targets. It will facilitate a discussion on the energy objectives and priorities for the second Africa-EU Energy Action plan to be endorsed at the next Africa-EU Summit in late 2010.

The ninth meeting of the Global Forum on Sustainable Energy (GFSE-9) will be held back-to-back with the AEEP High level Meeting. The one-day meeting with an open format will discuss innovative approaches and proposals with relevance for the implementation of the AEEP decisions. It is also a follow-up to GFSE-6 “Africa is energizing itself” held in November 2006. As usual the GFSE meeting will facilitate discussions between different stakeholders from science, industry, NGOs, UN Organizations and other development finance institutions.
