Austrian Side Event at the High Level Forum in Accra

A showcase of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency – Made in Austria!

Best practice and opportunities for cooperation

30th of October 2012, Accra, Ghana

Renewable energy and energy efficiency are the core pillars of the Austrian Energy Strategy. Over 65% of Austria’s electricity supply and 30% of the total energy supply are generated from renewable energy sources, making Austria one of the best on the global stage. Bundled Austrian expertise in this area has also led to a shining track record in exports. The know-how of Austrian companies, their expertise and their technological leadership all enjoy high international demand. What is more, the market for sustainable power from renewable energies is growing steadily. Renewable energies such as biomass, hydropower, solar energy and wind power are crucial to ensure sustainable supply that does not harm the environment.

This workshop aims at highlighting the Austrian experience in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency and seeks to facilitate the know-how exchange with ECOWAS Member States, in order to enable the identification of joint projects and intensify cooperation opportunities.

Key questions of the Workshop:

  • What are the key elements to ensure market penetration of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency
